Actors Kamal Haasan and John Abraham found themselves sailing in the same boat in 2013 when different outfits threatened to stop the release of their films raising objections to on-screen portrayal of certain aspects they were not in agreement with.

Veteran Kamal Haasan's emotional outburst of being forced to leave the country over his 'Vishwaroopam' release struggles sent shockwaves across India even as Abraham's 'Madras Cafe' raised eyebrows in south over its portrayal of LTTE.

What started in December 2012 as a commercial face-off with distributors over his decision to release 'Vishwaroopam' on Direct-to-Home platform also, Haasan's struggles later assumed religious proportions with Muslim groups opposing the depiction of their community in the film on terrorism.

Haasan earned the ire of groups over the depiction of Islam in his trilingual film, with the state government finally banning the movie, paving the way for a legal battle.

A Madras High Court Division Bench set aside a single judge's decision of lifting the ban on the Rs 100 crore movie, even as a political controversy erupted over the actor's remarks made in a function attended by Finance Minister P Chidambaram on the issue of a Tamil becoming Prime Minister. When it’s a film from mass hero Vijay, it’s a big deal in Kollywood. More so if it’s a festival release. As if to squash any doubts that Vijay’s ‘Jilla’ may not make it for Pongal in January 2014, the makers quickly arranged the audio release of the film at a low-key event in Chennai. It also doubled as an occasion when the Ilayathalapathy – known for his philanthropic work – made donations to some film producers who had fallen to bad times. The trailer of the film is expected to be unveiled on Christmas day. Source: MSN

We have been reading a lot of reports over the release of Kochadaiiyaan. Recently, there were reports that the Rajinikanth’s movie would hit the screens for Pongal.

It was also said that the movie bosses have decided to release the flick on January 10. But now sources close to the movie have revealed that the film release has been pushed. If sources are to be believed, Kochadaiiyaan, which is directed by Soundarya Ashwin, will not hit the screens for Pongal but for the Tamil New Year in April. In order to avoid a clash, the think tank of the flick have taken a call on pushing the release.

Ajith Kumar’s Veeram and Vijay’s Jilla are releasing for Pongal and releasing Rajinikanth’s movie during the same time will affect all three movies. In February, there are quite a few biggies including Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam is set to release. So, they didn’t want to clash with the Univesal Star’s flick too. However, the official word on the release has continued to be a mystery, as the movie bosses are tight-lipped about the same.

Meanwhile, the movie bosses are getting ready for audio release of Kochadaiiyaan, which features Deepika Padukone in the female lead role. The music will be launched on December 12 (Rajinikanth’s birthday) in a grand manner.
