Rakesh Roshan directed superhero film Krrish 3 has reportedly registered the highest collection for a Hindi film in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu by earning a total of Rs 14.53 crore in the first week.

"I don't remember any dubbed Hindi film collecting Rs 14.53 crore in its first week in AP and TN. The collection was better in Andhra because the film had a solo release, while in Tamil Nadu it had limited theatrical release due to the release of three Tamil films," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.

In Tamil Nadu, Hrithik Roshan starrer Krrish 3 had to compete with Ajith's Arrambam, Karthi's All in All Azhaguraja and Vishal's Pandiya Naadu.

"Ajith-starrer Arrambam covered maximum number of screens followed by Karthi's film and Pandiya Naadu. But since All in All Azhaguraja opened to bad reviews, Krrish 3 held its position throughout the first week," he said.

Trinath believes the film will enjoy another week of good run in Tamil Nadu.

"This is the first Friday of the year no Tamil film has released. Arrambam and Pandiya Naadu will continue to lead while Krrish 3 can enjoy another week of run at Tamil Nadu box-office. In Andhra, however, with three releases this week, we can expect some drop in the collections," he added.

It's not only the Hindi version of Krrish 3 that did well. Even the dubbed Telugu and Tamil versions of the film were received very well.

"The Telugu dubbed version was received far better than the Tamil version. Since there was not a single release in Andhra Pradesh last week but for Vishal's Telugu dubbed version of Pandiya Naadu, audiences had to watch Krrish 3," said Trinath.

"I was informed that the Telugu and Tamil versions together did a business of Rs 6.2 crore in the first week," he added.

Krrish 3 also features Kangana Ranaut, Priyanka Chopra and Vivek Oberoi in important roles.

Veteran actor Suresh Oberoi has applauded filmmaker Rakesh Roshan for making a film like Krrish 3 and also giving his actor-son Vivek a new life and confidence as the villain Kaal. "Praising 'Kaal' simply means applauding the director, Rakesh Roshan," the 66-year-old said here on Thursday at a special screening of the film.

"This family, the hero and Rakesh Roshan have given Vivek a new life, new confidence, new beginning and I don't think I have seen a better film than this," he added. Vivek also seconds his father and calls Rakesh Roshan the Steven Spielberg of India. "Whatever he (Suresh Oberoi) has said is absolutely true. I saw the film today (Thursday) for the first time and I forgot that I am Kaal. I was enjoying the film like a kid. I was laughing and crying," said Vivek.

"He (Rakesh Roshan) is a legend, a master and with this film he has shown that he is the Steven Spielberg of India," the 37-year-old added. Krrish 3 is the third film in the Krrish franchise which began with Koi Mil Gaya and stars Hrithik Roshan in the title role. Well-equipped with a spectacular range of special effects, extravagant action sequences a la Hollywood and Hrithik Roshan as superhero, Krrish 3 promises a double bonanza for movie buffs when it comes out on Friday, just two days before Diwali.

According to sources, the Rs.100-Rs.150 crore film will see a wide release and hit about 3,500 screens. When asked about the cost, the film's director-producer Rakesh Roshan said: "I can't reveal the budget of the movie, but it has been a very costly film."

A third in the franchise that began with the 2003 hit sci-fi movie Koi... Mil Gaya, Krrish 3 will take forward the story of the superhero Krrish, played by Hrithik. The film also features Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi. While Priyanka plays Hrithik's love interest, Kangana and Vivek will be seen in negative roles.

Predicting a "thunderous start" for the film, trade analyst Taran Adarsh feels that eventually the film's content will decide its course. If Krrish 2 saw Krishna defeating Siddhant Arya to save his father Rohit, Krrish 3 will reportedly see the superhero fighting a dark force, an evil genius who is spreading fear.

"I am certain that the film will see a thunderous start. But then after that the content of the film will decide how many people go and see it," Adarsh said.

Rakesh Roshan is confident that the film will make audiences "proud". "I don't know how the opening will be for the film. But the film has been made well and it will definitely make audiences proud," Roshan said. Red Chillies VFX, a subdivision of Shah Rukh's motion picture production banner Red Chillies Entertainment, worked on the special effects worth Rs.26 crore for Krrish 3.

Aggressive promotion has become must in the current scenario as the first three days' collection can make or break a film. And the Roshans have done everything - from tapping digital space by launching the first poster Facebook to merchandising to travelling to various cities. Also, a range of special emoticons were launched as a part of the film's promotions on social networking site Facebook.
