Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 3 is now the highest Bollywood grosser of all time, as it has broken SRK starrer Chennai Express's milestone that it had reached earlier this year at the box office.

Previously, Chennai Express had taken over Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots (2009), which enjoyed the undisputed top position as the all-time highest grosser for three years in a row with a collection of Rs. 202 crore from the domestic market.  The record was broken by SRK's Chennai Express that surpassed 3 Idiots to become the highest grosser at Rs. 227 crore.

Now, in a span of a few months, that record too has been beaten by Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 3, which released on November 1 and has so far made a collection of Rs. 231 crore, till Nov 16 and still progressing.

Interstingly, both Krrish 3 and Chennai Express hold the record of minting the fasted 100 crore in just four days within their release.

Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 3 released in 4000 screens across Indian on November 1 and it was expected to beat all the records of Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express, which has set several new benchmarks with its collection from 3500 screens at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. But the Rakesh Roshan-directed superhero film failed to do so in the first three days. Interestingly, it has picked up very well on weekdays and beaten six days record of the latter in the domestic market.

Krrish 3 Usually, the business of any Hindi movies drops more than 50% on Monday, but Krrish 3 proved to be an exception to this trend and that was due to Diwali holiday. The Hrithik Roshan starrer raked highest single day collection on the fourth day. Taran Adarsh tweeted, "And *highest single day* record lies shattered. Krrish3 collects History on Mon. Collects Rs 35.91 cr. The highest *single day* figure EVER. Also, Krrish3 hits a ton. Crosses Rs 100 cr mark on Mon. Fri to Mon: Rs 108.61 cr."

Interestingly, Krrish 3 kept the bells ringing at the ticket windows on the following days too. The movie has crossed Rs 150 crore mark at the domestic Box Office in just six days. On Wednesday, Taran Adarsh tweeted, "It's a rocking Tuesday!  Krrish3 is on a record-smashing spree. Collects Rs 26.26 cr. Total: Rs 134.87 cr. AWESOME." This morning (November 7), the trade expert added, "Krrish3 crosses Rs 150 cr mark in India. Wed: Rs 18.11 cr. Total: Rs 152.98 cr. FABULOUS." However, Chennai Express has collected Rs 156.7 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in seven days and its six-day domestic total was Rs 137.10 crores nett. Its breakup was Rs 6.75 cr in Paid Preview on Thu, Rs 33.12 cr on Fri, Rs 28.05 cr on Sat, Rs 32.5 cr on Sun, Rs 12.62 cr on Mon, Rs 11.5 cr on Tue, Rs 12.56 cr on Wed and Rs 19.6 cr on Thu. Now, Krrish 3 has almost surpassed its first week collection one day before the completion of the first week in theaters.

Superpowers come with a price. And this time it is the audiences who are going to feel the pinch. A rendezvous with 'Krrish' may cost them a small fortune.

Apparently, the ticket prices of the third film of the franchise will cost more than Shah Rukh Khan Starrer 'Chennai Express', which were sold at a whopping Rs 500.

While Fun Cinemas is all set raise the price by 8 per cent in most of their outlets, Inox is planning to do something similar. The Assistant Programming Manager at BIG Cinemas, Ashutosh Athavale, reasoned, "We are hoping that 'Krrish 3' will be a blockbuster." Explaining their decision, Anand Vishal, Head of Operations at Fun Cinemas, told TOI, "The jump in 'Krrish 3' prices is largely due to the fact that it is Diwali time."

A source from a leading theater, on request of anonymity, said: "A Hrithik Roshan film is coming after nearly two years and the excitement is bound to translate into more sale." Buzz is that other major multiplex chains will follow suit. However, PVR and Cinemas, said that they have decided to buck the trend, but refused to go on record. But, there is a silver lining. Most single screen theaters, including Gaiety, Galaxy and Chandan, are not hiking their ticket prices. "I don't need to resort to such things. If the film is good, people will come to the theaters," Manoj Desai of Gaiety-Galaxy said.
